Amtrak Downeaster - Popular Train in Maine

The Amtrak Downeaster runs from Boston to towns and cities along the coast of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine ending in Portland, Maine. The stops include Portland, Old Orchard Beach, Saco, Wells, Dover, Durham - UNH, Exeter, Haverhill, Woburn, and Boston. Although popular with its riders and a boom to the tourism trade of Maine, it has a rough road ahead in the next few years if additional sources of funding do not materialize. Currently it operates at a loss and federal aid for the railway is due to go away.
